CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Friends and family of 14-year-old Beatrice Nieto continue to grieve after she was found shot to death at the Indigo Apartments in Corpus Christi.
Loved ones came together and held a benefit on Sunday to help raise funds for her funeral service.
“They took her life way too soon, she was murdered, and we just want her back,” said her cousin, Malory Rodriguez.
Nieto’s family says Beatrice loved to laugh, dance and be a regular teenager who enjoyed playing volleyball.
“Everybody stopped and looked when she walked into the gym, she was a bright light, she was a leader, she was a natural leader, you can’t coach that you can’t teach that," West Oso Junior High School volleyball coach Gabriela Thompson said. "I will miss her dearly."
Friends and family say the fundraiser helped unite everyone together and show their love for Beatrice.
“Personally it just eases my heart to know that she has impacted so many lives," Rodriguez said. "She was a part of so many people. So many people love her and remember her and cherish her and because she impacted our lives so much were trying to do this for her."
