CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We have an update on the drilling fluids that spread from a drilling site into a Calallen-area neighborhood on Wednesday.

KRIS 6 News has learned that the Texas Railroad Commission is now investigating.

These are pictures we showed you last night of the fluids spreading into the ditches. In front of homes along Nueces County Road 73-A.

The Houston-based company drilling the nearby well has apologized for the mess and blamed it on a miscalculation that allowed the mixture of rainwater and drilling fluids to leak from the drilling site.

The company says the fluids are harmless and it's cleaning up the mess.

The railroad commission will also make sure the spill doesn't cause any negative impacts on the environment.
