The Texas State Lottery set a new record for weekly revenue last week after bringing in over $215 million in total sales between January 10 and the 16, beating a record originally set in 2016.
The sales were fueled by the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots, which are now worth an estimated $865 million and $730 million, respectively.
In addition to the uptick in national jackpot sales, the lottery also experienced the third best scratch ticket sales week in its history, yielding over $127 million in revenue.
Through the first 20 weeks of the 2021 fiscal year, the Texas Lottery has brought in more than $2.2 billion in scratch ticket sales, and is on pace to beat the previous annual scratch ticket sales record of $5.556 billion, set in the previous fiscal year.
The next drawing for the Mega Millions jackpot will take place Tuesday January 19 at 11 p.m.
