CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There were a lot of smiles today at Veterans Memorial High School.
Athletes who participate in Special Olympics were honored as they received letterman jackets to honor their accomplishments.
“Some of these students have been participating in Special Olympics for a long time,” said Edna Salazar, a special education teacher at the school. “So for them to receive this jacket is an incredible honor. Several area sponsors help make this gift possible.
For these athletes, this gift truly means much.
“I’m really happy for this,” Special Olympics athlete Bobby Davis III said. “I’m blessed. Truly blessed
for this jacket. I'm really happy for this jacket.”
The achievement made his grandfather, Bobby Davis Sr. truly happy.
“When he is happy, that makes me happy,” Davis Sr. said.
Ten jackets were given out at the ceremonies today.
