CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi were able to ride the new autonomous bus for the first time today.
The RTA debuted the new “"Surge" shuttle bus on campus this morning.
Islanders were greeted by RTA representatives at various stops.
Students say they're looking forward to using the shuttle to get across campus faster.
“It's really hard parking here especially when they do events where they'll close down parking lots,” said Kaitlyn O'Leary, a freshman from Fort Worth. “Something like this around campus for more of our campus kids, this would be a lot more helpful.”
GPS technology and sensors help the bus to follow a route along campus roads without hitting cars or students.
