The St. Paddy's Day Block Festival has been canceled effective Friday.
Event organizer Mike Treiber tells KRIS 6 News the event will no longer proceed as planned because the City of Corpus Christi, on advice of the city's legal team and the city manager's office, has pulled the permit and street closures needed for the event.
"We are deeply saddened by this turn of events and our hearts go out to all the people and events affected by this ongoing crisis," organizers said in a statement.
The statement said it looks forward to holding the festival next year, which would celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Recent CDC guidelines advise limiting large gatherings in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
