Summer break is over for students who attend Tuloso-Midway Independent School District.
Today is their first day of the 2019-2020 school year. TMISD students get an early start because they're on a year-round schedule. Students undergo six weeks of classes before getting a week off as a break.
This morning, lots of parents were making their way through traffic at Tuloso-Midway Primary. in order to get their kids to class on time.
It was mixture of emotions on campus this morning. Several parents and students were excited for the new year. Meanwhile, a couple of children, like Dominic Garcia, were nervous.
His mother, Jessica Garcia, said her son woke up early because of his nerves.
"He's been up since like 7 this morning and he didn't have to get up until at least 7:20 a.m. because we live so close. So, he's excited. i think he's just a little nervous," Garcia said. She assured him he would be find and would make new friends.
"We're just super excited to meet all the new teachers, all the staff, everyone here. It looks like it's a pretty friendly school. So, we're really excited to see what's in store for us," Garcia added.
