PORTLAND, Texas — A large amount of stolen copper was recovered by the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff says they got a tip that large quantities of copper was being sold at Corpus Christi Salvage Yards.
They met up with the seller, who was pulling a trailer loaded with 2,000 pounds of copper.
The sheriff says the copper came from spools at TPCO Industries, near Gregory.
Two empty spools and two large full spools were recovered from the seller’s home in Portland.
TPCO confirmed that $93,000 worth of copper was missing from its yard.
Authorities are in the process of getting a felony arrest warrant.
