ROBSTOWN, Texas — The Robstown I.S.D. Education Foundation was awarded over $18,000 to teachers who applied for grants Tuesday.

Teachers had to write a proposal explaining what they needed the money for and how it would be used in the classroom to further educate the students.

The grants ranged from $500 to $3,500 where teachers can use them for special projects, equipment, and programs they want to implement in their classrooms.

Melinda Cortinas, who is a teacher at Lotspeich Elementary School, said, "I'm going to buy some music instruments and some outdoor activities that we can use during our outdoor learning time for my kids so that we can continue to learn."

2nd grade teacher Ruben Sanchez said, "Well we initially thought of the Chrome books, even though every child has one it doesn't hurt to have extra, and if there is any money left whatever supplies we can get for the kids."

The Robstown I.S.D. Education Foundation went to four campuses surprising teachers and thanking them for educating students.
