ROBSTOWN, Texas — Several Robstown Early College High School students got a grand surprise this week.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Robstown E.C.H.S. was not able to host its annual banquet for its Top Ten Seniors. So, administrators went to them.

On Wednesday, they stopped by every student's home and surprised them with a yard sign with their photo on it, as well as a new laptop.

The administrators' mission took a detour after one of the students, Andrew Rodriguez, wasn't home.

Rodriguez was at work.

So, administrators and teachers showed up there to surprise him with his well-earned gift.

Robstown Independent School District Director of Public Relations Kelsey Cook said administrators were happy to see these hard-working students and surprise them.

"They haven't seen some of us since mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. So to see their faces and to see them so happy in a moment that really is a challenge for seniors right now. (It) was just the best feeling for us," Cook said.
