CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A proposed sports complex on the city's south side appears to be coming back in play.

It looked like the Southside Sports Complex had struck out, as City Council never finalized a lease with SQH Entertainment

The city was set to lease more than 200 acres to SQH for the complex about 18 months ago.

Now, the proposal has been scaled back to nearly 70 acres with an option for another 30.

The new lease also includes a series of deadlines which allow the city to back out if they're not met.

We’ll have more coming up this evening on KRIS 6 News.

The first of those deadlines requires SQH to show they have funding for the complex by Jan. 3..

The last requires the complex to be running by Apr. 1, 2022.
