CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Imagine combining the crispiness of Cheez-It snacks with the gooey deliciousness of a Pizza Hut calzone.
The pizza chain has announced the addition of a new menu item, called the Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza.
It will be available at Pizza Hut locations across the country starting today.
And it looks exactly as it sounds, a giant stuffed Cheez-It packed with mozzarella cheese with pepperoni also available.
An order will come with four squares -- complete with Cheez-It's iconic circle in the middle -- and a side of marinara sauce for savory dipping.
“We pride ourselves on being the go-to for unexpected pizza innovations, and I can’t think of a better partner than Cheez-It to bring our next original menu item to life,” Mariane Radley, chief brand officer of Pizza Hut, said in a prepared statement. “Not to mention, as fellow NCAA partners, this collaboration is the perfect way to kick off football season, combining America’s go-to gameday cravings into one next-level snack.”
This is the latest in a series of a food mash-ups we've seen in recent months like Cheetos on Kentucky Fried Chicken sandwiches and Taco Bell's Doritos Locos Tacos.
But somehow, this new pizza creation sounds so novel that many consumers would be willing to try it at least once.
And then, good taste will determine whether they come back for more repeat purchases.
