A 16-year-old boy accused of shooting at two police officers will stand trial.
This morning, a Nueces County Grand Jury decided there was enough evidence to charge the teen with attempted capital murder of a peace officer.
Police say officers responded to a suspicious activity call on May 3 at Cuiper Park, near Naples Street and Horne Road.
When officers approached a group of three young males, the 16-year-old boy began shooting. Several rounds hit one of the patrol cars. Officers returned fire, but no one was hit.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Justice center. He was certified to stand trial Sept. 1 as an adult and was moved to the Nueces County Jail.
He has also been charged with harassment by person in a correctional facility.
