NUECES COUNTY, Texas — Corpus Christi city manager Peter Zanoni confirmed on Wednesday that Nueces County will not be receiving any COVID-19 vaccines this week.

The city manager said there was a breakdown somewhere in the state and federal system.

The state had specifically told the city we would get vaccines this week. But instead, the city was told again by the state that the 5,000 vaccines that were distributed last Friday and Saturday were the ones we would
have gotten this week.

Zanoni said the city does not control the vaccine.

The federal government, which works directly with the pharmaceutical companies, tells the states on Thursday mornings how much they are allocating to each state. Then, the state lets cities and counties know how much they will get.

Zanoni said we will know on Thursday what our allocation of vaccines will be for next week.
