CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Public Health District is taking health care on the road with the launch of their new Women, Infants and Children mobile unit.
The WIC program provides support for nutrition-related health problems.
With the new mobile unit, they're hoping to make trips easier and reach more patients across the Coastal Bend.
“We're able to reach a larger demographic,” said Ryan Gant, a WIC nutritionist and outreach coordinator. “Before, we were just kind of stationary obviously in this one part of Corpus Christi.
“Now we can move around, go to health fairs, we have partners now so we are able to park and meet people where they're at.”
The city held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new mobile unit this morning at the health district offices.
It soon will be ready to hit the road.
