CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College recently opened its newest addition to the east campus. And this morning, we got an inside look.
Architects led a tour of the new General Academic and Music building today.
The facility features cutting-edge technology, windows and glass walls for natural light, and several outside spaces for students to gather.
But most notable are the state-of-the-art music rehearsal and performance facilities.
“In the music area specifically, Del Mar College has a rich, rich history in music in south Texas,” said Carol Scott, president of the school’s trustees. “I remember as a middle-school and high-school-age student coming to music comps at Del Mar College. We're seeing that again, we're seeing that come back.”
The project is the largest on Del Mar's 2014 voter-approved bond referendum.
It was completed last fall and classes were started in the building last month.
