CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A motorcyclist has died following injuries he suffered following a gruesome crash on the city's southside.

According to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office, Jacob Soliz, 21, died due to blunt force trauma.

According to the Corpus Christi police, the crash happened Tuesday evening near the intersection of Saratoga and Aaron Drive.

Investigators said Soliz was riding the motorcycle, traveling with excessive speed at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday before he T-boned into a truck that was turning onto Aaron Drive.

"Just because you're on a motorcycle doesn't mean you can go fast," Corpus Christi Police Department Capt. Timothy Frazier said. "You've got to be more cognizant of traffic than cars because you don't have a metal cage around you. We ask you to watch your speed so the roads can be safe for everybody."
