Miller High School seniors were up early to kick off the school's first ever "Senior Sunrise" this morning.

The event marks the start of their football season, which is the last football season of their high school career.

According to school principal Dr. Bruce Wilson, the senior class came up with the idea. They approached the P.T.A. and school staff, who all agreed it was a good idea.

"We figured we might as well get them together," Wilson said. "This is the last of a lot of things for these kids that worked hard all of these years in high school. So, we want to celebrate every opportunity that we can with them."

At 6:30 am, students gathered in Buc Stadium's parking lot, where they had breakfast and watched this morning's sunrise.

Miller High school Senior Class President Brianna Gonzalez says they thought it was a great way to start off the football season together.

"The mindset was basically we wanted to give all the support to our football boys of course but we also wanted to say 'Seniors this is our last time. Let's make it the best we possibly can,' " Gonzalez said.

The seniors will take part in various activities throughout the day, including the first pep rally of the year this afternoon in the gym.

At the end of the school year, the seniors will end their year with a sunset ceremony.
