CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — In wake of Hurricane Laura, Corpus Christi Mayor Joe Mccomb signed an order Wednesday evening to close vehicle access to all gulf beaches after one death and another injury was reported on local beaches earlier today.
The order goes into effect now until Thursday at 10 a.m.
The mayor said this will give the city's Parks and Recreation Department time to assess any type of damage from the storm.
Mccomb said a 24-year-old man was killed and another beachgoer was injured from the waves after being slammed into the jetties.
That person was taken to the hospital. No word on what their condition is.
