CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The daughters of Alan McCollum remembered their late father as a special man whose love for them was undeniable.
For several minutes before they attended their father's funeral Thursday morning at Church Unlimited, Liliana McCollum and Hannah Weegmann shared their special memories of him.
It was a somber scene as the procession made up of family, friends and policemen made their way to the church all to say goodbye to a man they loved and respected.
Alan's daughters wanted to speak with KRIS 6 and say some words about the man they called daddy.
“I just want them to know - he was a wonderful man,” his daughter Liliana McCollum told KRIS 6 News. “Honestly, no matter the weather or the setting, he just always had that smirk on his face, that little smile that would never go away.
“He never had a frown, he never got mad. He was just a wonderful man who was very grateful for his life and his family.”
Hannah had similar sentiments about her father.
“I just want everyone to know how humble he was and how loving he was,” Hannah said. “And like Lili said, it didn’t matter the day or the time, he always had that little smirk. and he just made everything better.”
They will never forget their daddy, they said.
"It's a very tragic thing ... what happened to my father but he lives in our heart," Liliana said. "I know he's sitting right here spiritually."
