PORT ARANSAS, Texas -- A man fell to his death while working on the roof at a condominium complex in Port Aransas.

Port Aransas Police responded to a call at the Casa Condominiums on the 4900 block of State Highway 361 at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, where a man reportedly had fallen from the top of the building. Port Aransas Sgt. Mike Hannon said the five-story complex recently has been under repair.

"There was construction going on, so it was not out-of-the-ordinary for a worker to be up there on the roof," Hannon said. "There were other workers up there with him."

Port Aransas police don't suspect foul play in the incident.

"When we got out here and talked to witnesses -- essentially -- he had stepped onto the roof on an area that wasn't necessarily sound," Hannon said. "All the witness statements and the scene ... corroborated that. So, right now, there's no evidence that a person killed him. It looks like he fell ... due to accidental circumstances."

Hannon said the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause of death, and that his department still was trying to learn the man's identity.
