Man arrested following westside shooting

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — A man is in the Nueces County Jail after he was arrested in connection in a shooting that left a man in critical condition.

The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Niagara and Presa Street.

Senior Officer Travis Pace, with the Corpus Christi police department, said an escalation erupted between two drivers which led up to the shooting.

The next day after the shooting, police said they arrested 47-year-old Jesus Franco. He is charged with aggravated assault.

Police said that a man had been shot and was sent to the hospital. He was last listed in critical condition Friday morning.

Investigators are still searching for more suspects.

Police are looking for a light colored Ford SUV Expedition or Explorer and they are looking for a gray Chevrolet Avalanche towing a black utility trailer. Pace said both vehicles fled the scene of the shooting.
