The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and hiding her body in a sofa has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Trinidad Perez accepted a deal Monday morning, pleading guilty to one charge of abuse of a corpse, and was sentenced, according to Nueces County First Assistant District Attorney Matt Manning.
The other two charges he was facing, murder and tampering with physical evidence, were dismissed pending further review.
According to court documents, Perez told a family member that he strangled ex-girlfirend Yvonne Villanueva in June 2018 because she threatened to have him beat up.
He then described how he hid her body in a sofa.
Her body was found a few days later in a sofa dumped on a county road just south of Petronila.
