CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Lorelei Brewing Company is the only brewery in Corpus Christi that manufactures local canned beer and distributes its product statewide.
And since the beer-to-go law went into effect Sept. 1 -- part of House Bill 1545 -- Lorelei already has seen a 23 percent increase in sales.
It produces about 2,000 barrels of beer a year.
Beer-to-go allows you to purchase up to 288 ounces of beer a day, or as much as a case of your favorite craft beer per day, per person.
“It's super exciting," Lorelai owner Varian Criser said. “I love the fact that we get to be kind of on the forefront of this industry here in Texas as it's continuing to grow. And just get out in front of that many more people.”
And while smaller brewpubs have already had this luxury, it's a big step for the craft beer industry and places like Lorelei.
Especially since local breweries have become part of tourism attractions, according to Criser.
