A local nonprofit group, along with a local church, teamed up to hand out meals for kids and their families.

Pursuit City Church, located along Baldwin Boulevard near the Crosstown Expressway, co-hosted the event with Be A Champion.

The event gave out prepackaged, ready-to-eat meals.

There were very few requirements to be able to qualify for the food.

"The only thing that we ask is that parents -- two things: to bring identification of the kids, so the children can be in the vehicle with them, or they can bring report cards or school ids,” said Be The Champion organizer Rebecca Johnson.

Monday's event ended earlier, as it is first come, first serve, but the group will have another food giveaway from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at Pursuit City Church, located at 1602 Baldwin Blvd.
