CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Fiesta de la Flor 2020 is again a possibility, after the Visit Corpus Christi board voted to pay the Selena Foundation $50,000 for the 2019 festival.
The payment was part of a deal made with the foundation by former Visit Corpus Christi CEO Paulette Kluge. The foundation received half the profits from previous festivals.
Chairwoman Melody Nixon-Bice told the board that without the payment, the Quintanilla Family wouldn’t hold future festivals in the city.
Kluge resigned last month after details of the deal became public. Her last day was Sept. 13, and Kluge will receive six months salary as part of her severance package. The board also approved offering
Downtown Corpus Christi Executive Director Alyssa Barrera-Mason the position of interim CEO. Barrera-Mason is expected to accept. The search for Kluge’s permanent replacement is expected to take 4-6 months.
