CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We're giving a thumb up Joseph Longoria.

The Troop 2 scout was given an exemplary service award by Corpus Christi Police Department Chief Michael Markle.

The award was for Longoria's effort to initiate a crosswalk safety program within our city. He created the program as part of an Eagle Scout project.

Pedestrians use florescent flags as they cross busy streets to enhance their visibility.

Once safely across, they put the flag in a holder.

Joseph donated 500 flags to pilot the program.

Job well done.
