CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Business is rebounding in a big way at the Corpus Christi International Airport.

The airport saw a big jump in air traffic this past holiday weekend.

In fact, it was the busiest three days the airport has seen since March.

An airport spokesman tells us they are tracking growth faster than any other airport in Texas.

While our air traffic is down by 40 percent, in other markets it's down by 60 to 75 percent.

“We are doing really, really well for the month of September,” CCIA assistant director Kevin Smith said. “Like I said, we had three of our busiest days this last weekend. I think people are coming to visit Corpus again and we're starting to see a couple of business travelers up again which is very encouraging.”

And as for why our airport is doing so much better?

Airport officials say it's because of our beaches and lower air fares here.

We're still down by four to five flights but they're expected to return over the next few months.
