CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As grocery stores are left barren from people stocking up on grocery items, it has left others desperately looking for food.

Once again, the Coastal Bend Food Bank is stepping up to help the community.

A distribution has taken place today at the American Bank Center for local residents in desperate need.

The first of two emergency food distributions ran from 9 a.m. until noon. And now the lines are building back up for nearly a mile for the second distribution which will start at 1 p.m. and last until 3 p.m. They estimate that 1,250 families will receive food from today's distribution.

For some, this is their only chance to get food and they were up early to get here - thankful for the opportunity to get what they need.

“A lot of things that ain’t at the stores, not on the shelves that basically it,” said Melissa Ybarra.

Local resident Robert Bostic said the food distribution shows the best intentions of our community.

“I love it,” Bostic said. “I really do. It’s for us, the community, to say hey we're helping each other out.”
