CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The former Corpus Christi Police officer accused of impersonating a Child Protective Services worker is heading to trial next month.

Judge Sandra Watts set Norma Deleon's trial date for Sept. 17 during a Friday morning hearing.

The judge originally asked that Deleon go to trial next week, but a scheduling change forced the delay.

Police say, Deleon posed as a CPS worker last November in order to go into a home and visit a young girl who turned out to be the niece of her then-boyfriend, fellow CCPD officer Tommy Cabello.

Cabello currently is a is serving a 10-year sentence for domestic abuse against his wife.
