CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Je'Sani Smith Foundation received a huge donation from the Port of Corpus Christi today.
The port donated $10,000 to the foundation.
Je'Sani Smith was caught in a rip current and drowned while swimming near Bob Hall Pier in April 2019.
His mom created the foundation to promote beach safety and rip current awareness.
Today's donation from the port will help fund public service announcements and educational displays during holidays and peak vacation months when more people are expected to be at the beach.
