The Texas Surf Museum held a special ribbon cutting Thursday evening.
It was a symbolic ceremony to welcome The Je'Sani Smith Foundation as a member of the United Chamber Of Commerce.
The Foundation's namesake, Je'Sani Smith, was swept up by a rip current in 2019 and drowned.
From that tragedy, his mother Kiwana created the foundation to help educate the public on the dangers of rip currents.
