UPDATE: Friday 9:30 am - Overnight, several people from North Beach were evacuated from their homes due to the high waters. Five of them were taken to a shelter set up at the Natatorium on Saratoga, the rest found other accommodations. As of Friday morning three of them left for work, but all five will be staying at the shelter until the water recedes, according to the American Red Cross.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department has arrived on North Beach with boats in tow, ready to evacuate flood victims.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Kenneth Erben, the Fire Department started conducting welfare checks Thursday morning.
