Port Commissioner Charlie Zahn confirmed to KRIS 6 News that there's been a delay in the completion of the Harbor Bridge project.

During Tuesday's Port of Corpus Christi commissioners meeting, Zahn said a staff member announced the port had been notified there will be a 2-year construction delay for the Harbor Bridge Project. The topic came up during a discussion a about a road project near the site.

The bridge is now expected to be completed during the first three months of 2023.

Zahn said the commissioners were not told what led to the delay, but said Flatiron Dragados, the construction company in charge of the project, told port commissioners there was a delay because of weather and permitting issues.

He said a formal presentation wasn't made about the delays, though, and that Flatiron Dragados could not provide an estimated completion date.

The port commissioners ultimately decided to table the road project that was being discussed until the Harbor Bridge is closer to being finished.
