CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A group of volunteers is trying to change the perception people have about a local park being a dirty homeless hangout.

The group is called "Taking Back the Bluff" and their event this weekend is "Take Back the Park."

The park is called Parker Park in Flour Bluff and volunteers spent the morning doing some clean-up there.

Families are encouraged to come out again tomorrow and enjoy all the park has to offer.

The name "Take Back the Park" is a little misleading, because event organizers say it's really already been taken back.

Leader of the event, Joe Kramer said, "We do care, and we're doing everything we can to instill trust in our community that this is a great park, it's a safe park."

"Take back the park" is happening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. again Sunday, Feb 23.

We have been told the group will spend the next three weekends keeping the park clean for the community to enjoy.
