"Granny" Davis receives birthday wishes from the mayor

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Mayor Joe McComb paid a special visit to a very special centenarian today.

He visited Cornelia Davis, also known as “Granny Davis,” was at Galvan Elementary School alongside council member-at-large Paulette Guajardo.

Granny Davis has worked with CCISD for the past 25 years as a member of the foster grandparents program.

She turned 100 years old on Jan. 20.

McComb says he saw the stories on Granny Davis and just had to meet her to thank her for all she does.

"I feel just wonderful. I'm very happy,” she said. “I've never had so much attention in all my life.and I thank you so much for doing this.”

McComb gave Davis a certificate thanking her for her work in the community.

She also received a Corpus Christi commemorative coin, along with birthday cards.
