CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There's a conference underway at the American Bank Center for grandparents and other relatives who have stepped in to raise children.
This conference addresses the unique challenges they face.
Every year, the Coastal Bend sees a rise in children being brought into their grandparents or relatives homes to live.
Whether their parents are incarcerated, facing alcohol or substance abuse, or are mentally or financially unable to raise their children, children in our community are needing help.
More than 400 individuals came to this event. We spoke with some grandparents who provided us with a glimpse of what it's like raising a child.
We’ll tell you more tonight on KRIS 6 News.
