CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's not too late.
That's the word coming from the Corpus Christi Nueces County Public Health District when it comes to getting your flu shot.
It’s been a particular tough flu season for many here in the Coastal Bend..
Today, the health district kicked off a free flu vaccine clinic at its headquarters on Horne Road.
The first 200 flu shots in their storage are being handed out for free. They recommend anybody 6 months and older to get their shot. They say it really is the best form of defense.
“It's important to get your flu vaccine every year because it does vary,” said Dr.Kim Onufrak, medical director of the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District. “They can mutate, they can vary the strains. What the researchers try to do, the scientist, they try to match the strains. And get the majority the strains covered.”
Once the clinic runs out of free vaccines, it will be offering flu shots at a reduced price of $10. This will continue until Jan. 17.
