CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Driscoll Heath Plan says they will give away free backpacks and school supplies.
Children ages 5-18 are eligible to receive the items at the Driscoll Heath Plan Back 2 School event.
Organizers said in order to adhere to social distancing practices, it will be a drive-through event, where families will not need to exit their vehicle.
All attendees must be in a vehicle, and children must be present to receive a backpack.
The backpacks and school supplies are donated by local organizations, including Driscoll Health Plan, Driscoll Children’s Hospital Quick Care-Saratoga, Corpus Christi Hooks, Corpus Christi Police Department and AHEC.
WHEN: 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8
WHERE: Please take Tancahua Street to get to the Whataburger Field parking lot (734 E. Port Ave.). Corpus Christi Police Department will be there to guide you.
