CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Four staff members at the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coastal Bend were honored by the American Red Cross today.
Kristina Gilley, Julia Livas, Iris Ruiz and Maria Jackson received the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit.
It is the highest award given by the American Red Cross for having helped save a life using the skills from their training services.
The four employees.who received CPR and first-aid training through the Red Cross.used their skills to save a man's life back in the spring.
“It’s about exemplifying what the ability of taking a course just on CPR training and first aid and how we can actually save someone's life and actually make a difference in a family's life,” said Alex Garcia, executive director of the American Red Cross.
