CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's a major step forward for a major project out on Padre Island.
The city council approved a contract with Haas-Anderson Construction on Tuesday to build the long-planned Park Road 22 bridge.
The nearly $14 million project calls for crews to dig a canal where a median currently sits.
That canal will join with canals already on the west side of the island, connecting them with Packery Channel and Lake Padre to the east.
