NUECES COUNTY, Texas — Multiple firefighting crews were called out Monday afternoon to battle a house fire in the Bluntzer area.

The flames broke out inside a home along Rachal Lane just around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

When crews arrived they found flames engulfing the home and noticed flames on top of the roof.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time.

It took local firefighters to get than fire under control after more than two hours.

Family members were told the home is a total loss but they had a special message for those fire fighters that jumped into action.

Roger Garcia, who lived inside of the home, said, "Thank you guys. i know some of you guys got dehydrated from the fire. Thank you guys for trying to save some of the stuff for us or just making sure we can probably go in."

Volunteers with the Red Cross have stepped in to help the family. As for a cause of the fire. that is still under investigation.
