CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi firefighters made quick work of a house fire that erupted at the corner of 17th Street and Prescott on Wednesday night.
Battalion Chief J.D. Johnson said when they firefighters arrived, the small home near the Crosstown Expressway was fully engulfed, with heavy fire and smoke escaping from the front and rear of the building.
The fire broke out shortly after 9 p.m. and was controlled within 10 minutes without incident.
"It was a pretty easy fire to fight," Johnson said.
No injuries were reported and Johnson said the house's tenant was not there when the fire broke out.
The Red Cross has been called in to arrange for temporary housing.
