RIVERA, Texas — The Department of Public Safety is working a fatal accident on Highway 77 just north of Rivera.
DPS spokesman Nathan Brandley said at about 1:40 p.m., a pickup truck and semi-truck trailer were involved in a collision.
Brandley said a 57-year-old man was driving the Ford F150 truck.
The truck was traveling southbound on the northbound lane. The drive of the tractor trailer tried to avoid getting hit by him, but the accident still occurred.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
There's no word why the driver of the truck was traveling in the wrong directioin.
Brandley said the identity of the dead man has been determined, but his next of kin has not been notified.
