CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Firefighters rescued a city worker who got stuck while fixing a sewer line on Tuesday.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. along Betty Jean and Cain Drive off of Holly Road.

First responders said the worker was in a safety box, a device used for digging, when in started to fill up with water. Crews said it got waist deep.

It took crews about an hour and half to rescue him. He was taken to the hospital afterward to be checked out.

We're told he had no apparent injuries.
