CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Driscoll Children’s Hospital paired withToys Fore Kids, based out of Houston, to bring Christmas gifts to children staying at the hospital.

“Being sick is tough, and to have a child, or to be a child, in the hospital, especially during this time of year, it could be pretty rough. So being able to give the kids toys, it’s very special. It brightens their day, makes them happy, gives them a sense of normalcy,” said Michelle Goodman, Director of Nursing and Child Life at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Shawn Taher, the founder of Toys Fore Kids, was helping pass out gifts with his family.

“We understand the need this year is greater than it’s ever been, due to what’s been going on. So, our goal, even if we are one child happy, we’ve accomplished our goal. In fact, we’re very blessed to be able to do this,” Taher said.

“We’re blessed to be allowed to come in and do this for the kids. This has been a challenging year for so many, and especially for families that have to spend the holidays in the hospital, we just want to spread the spirit of Christmas,” said Taher's wife, Heather Nguyen.

“I really want kids to be happy, especially this time of year, during the coronavirus. I just want them to be happy, and know that everything is going to be fine,” said Taher's son, Brandon.
