SINTON, Texas — Convicted murderer David Strickland will remain in prison after his appeal was denied today.
San Patricio County District Attorney Sam Smith confirmed that the 13th Court of Appeals rejected Strickland's appeal.
Strickland is currently serving a life sentence for the 2012 shootings of Kristene Chapa and Molly Olgin at a Portland city park.
Olgin died from her injuries. Chapa survived.
Strickland's defense team was appealing the conviction based on DNA tests from a strand of hair recovered from Kristene Chapa .
