CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb said in a briefing at City Hall that he got an encouraging phone call from Gov. Greg Abbott.
Abbott told McComb the State will see to it that the city gets all the resources it needs, before and after the storm.
“He just wanted to reassure me that the state is prepared and on standby to help us and provide us in whatever we need as this thing moves forward," McComb said. "I was very comforted by that. He said I've got people positioned up and down the coast and they're just a phone call to put them in action if and when we need them. So, I appreciate the governor's concern."
McComb said Abbott told him help is only a phone call away.
"You got my number, just call me," McComb said Abbott told him. "And he said 'It will go into action.'"
Abbott echoed this in a statement, asking Texans to take all the precautionary measures necessary to protect lives and property.
