CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Heavy smoke was coming from the city's south side today.

But don't worry as it’s part of a controlled burn out near Chapman Ranch.

According to Nueces County fire crews, the burn is happening off FM 70 and State Highway 286.

Heavy smoke could be seen for miles this afternoon as the burn continued.

It's all part of an effort to help control fires that may break out in the future.
