CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We had some storm surge flooding here in the Coastal Bend, but Tropical Storm Beta could have left us with much worse.
Rockport mayor Patrick Rios tells us the higher than normal tides caused very little damage to the beaches there..
There was a bit of erosion and some street flooding that we showed you yesterday.
And Rios says that actually Rockport could have used more rain.
It was totally different story over in Houston, where residents woke up to a nightmare this morning.
The “Bayou City” looks more like a swamp.
Heavy rain from Beta turned streets and highways into rivers.
Several drivers had to be rescued from vehicles that stalled in the high water.
This morning, Houston-area residents were being told to stay off roads and highways because of the flooding that's expected to continue around the area for at least one more day.
